After encountering a wine tasting venue, I tried a strong Zin that took a few sips to get acquainted with. It inspired me to select Bogle Vineyards, Old Vine Zinfandel for this evening. This wine is a 2010, Clarksburg California wine, at 14.5%, with tastes of old vine blackberry, black cherry and raspberry along with vanilla and an oaked taste. The wine itself was very light but certainly packed a punch of flavors.
Old Vine Zinfandel, 2010
Bogle Vineyards, Clarksburg, CA
Rating:81/100
Recommendation: Solid showing for a Zin. Good wine for the price. Certainly a good wine to try. Room for improvement as a Zinfandel.
Will you mention the actual price/bottle so that we can know the price range of the wines you are trying?
ReplyDeleteThat is an excellent suggestion, Nate! We will include that information in our posts.
ReplyDeleteJust as a point of reference - all of the bottles that we've talked about on this blog so far are in the $10 - $20 range.
If you and Liz try out any wines be sure to let us know. I've gone a little wine-crazy - love trying out new things. While I'm particular to California wines I'm slowly expanding my horizons.
